Attach the Management Cables
Each CMC has 3 RJ-45 connectors for serial management, debug, and network
management.
The serial management connector, labeled SER MGT, is the initial interface from the
management console to the CMC. The management console can be a serial terminal,
a system running a TIP connection, or other serial device. Once communication with
the CMC is established, the CMC can be configured to use the network management
connector, labeled NET MGT.
The NET MGT connector is a 100 BASE-T Ethernet interface and is preferred because
it permits remote management of the CMC over the network. To have the same
functionality with the SER MGT connector, a terminal server would need to be
configured.
The debug connector permits low speed serial direct access to the IPMB controllers of
each fabric card and line card.
