Remove a CMOD
You need to remove the CMOD to service it or its internal components.
Before You Begin
For component serviceability, locations, and designations, see
Locations, and Designations” on page 79
.
1.
Prepare the server for warm or cold service.
■
For servers equipped with SW 1.0 and with versions of Oracle ILOM older than 3.2.4.18,
“Prepare the Server for Cold Service” on page 99
.
■
For servers equipped with SW 1.1 and with Oracle ILOM 3.2.4.18 or newer, use
cold service or warm service. For warm service, see
2.
Identify which group of fan modules (left or right) to remove to access the
CMOD.
In an eight-CMOD configured server, CMODs belong to either a left or a right group. CMODs
0-3 are in the leftmost group, and CMOD s 4-7 are in the rightmost group. If you know the
group, then you know which group of four fan modules to remove. If you are removing a
CMOD in a failed state, the lit fault indicator for the CMOD on the FIM shows you the group
to which the CMOD belongs. In a four-CMOD configured server, remove the leftmost group of
fans.
3.
Remove the fan modules. See
“Remove a Fan Module” on page 113
4.
Remove the fan frame. See
“Remove a Fan Frame” on page 118
.
5.
