ABOUT THE RS BATTERIES
For your safety, read the Orbea RS batteries
manual before using the internal battery or
the Range Extender.

The information on this manual refers to
both the RS internal battery and the Range
Extender.
BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
AND WARNINGS

charging conditions when charging the battery. Otherwi-
se it may cause overheating, bursting, or ignition of the
battery.
· Do not leave the battery near sources of heat such as
heaters, vehicles or any dangerous place.

Do not deform, modify, disassemble or apply solder
directly to the battery.
· Do not connect the (+) and (-) terminals and other ter-
minals with metallic objects. Do not carry or store the
battery together with metallic objects such as necklaces
or hairpins. It could cause short-circuits, overheating,
burns or other injury.
· Do not place the battery into the water, and do not allow
the battery terminals to get wet. Otherwise it may cause
overheating, bursting, or ignition of the battery.
· Do not puncture or crush the battery.
· If any liquid leaking from the battery gets into your
eyes, skin or clothes, immediately wash the affected
area thoroughly with clean water, and seek medical
advice immediately. The battery liquid can damage your
eyes and body.
· If the battery does not become fully charged 2 hours
passed the designated 5 hours chargin time (3.5 hours +
2 hours for the Range Extender), inmediately disconnect
the charger and contact an authorized dealer.
· Do not use the battery if it has any external damage.
· Do not use the battery if leakages, discoloration, defor-
mation or any other abnormalities occur.
· Do not recharge the battery in wet or very humid places,
or outdoors.
· Do not insert or remove the charger while it is wet.
Otherwise it may cause electric shocks. If there is water
leaking out of the mains socket or the charger, dry it tho-
roughly before inserting using it.
· Do not store in direct sunlight or in places (such as inside
cars) where the heat can become excessive. Keep away

leakage.
· Use both hands when handling the batteries to avoid the
damages and injury.
· If an error occurs during discharge or charging, stop
using the battery immediately and refer to the user's
manual. If you are not sure, consult Orbea or an autho-
rized dealer.
· Do not clean the battery with high pressure water spray.
· Do not use alcohol, solvents or abrasive cleaners to clean
the battery or the charger. Use a dry or slightly damp cloth.
· Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the battery & charger.
· If the battery exploded, contact the emergency servi-
ces immediately, and cautiously remove other batteries
if possible, evacuate everybody from the area around

BATTERY STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
· Store the battery in a safe place away from reach of
infants and pets.
· If the battery is stored in temperatures which are outside
VJGUGTCPIGUƂTGJC\CTFUCPFQTFCOCIGUVQVJGDCVVGT[
may occur.
· Storage Temperature range: 0°C ~ 35°C, avoid big
temperature changes.
· If you are not going to use the battery for a long period
of time, store it away with approximately 70% of battery
charge. Check the charge level every three months and
never let the charge drop below 10%.
· Store the battery or bicycle on which the battery is ins-
talled in cool indoor places (approx. 0°C ~ 25°C) where
they do not become exposed to direct sunlight or rain. If
the storage temperature is low or high, the performan-
ce of the battery is reduced, and its available range per
charge will be reduced. When you use the battery after
a long storage period, be sure to charge it before use.
· Temperature above 70 °C may result in battery leakage
and rupture.
BATTERY USE INSTRUCTIONS
· The operating temperature ranges for the battery are
given below. Do not use the battery in temperatures out-
side these ranges.
· If the battery is used in temperatures which are outside

· Only use the battery within the discharge temperatu-
re range: –10°C ~ 50°C.
· Only charge the battery within the charging tempera-
ture range: 0°C ~ 40°C.
· The battery must be charged in an ambient temperatu-

· If the battery has been charged in a low temperature
environment (0 °C or below), the available range per
charge will decrease.
· If your wish to transport or ship the battery, observe the

courier and packaging.
BATTERY ASEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
· Do not use the battery immediately after buying it. Make
UWTGVQHWNN[EJCTIGVJGDCVVGT[DGHQTGKVUƂTUVWUG
· Always switch off the battery and the e-bike system when
you insert or remove the battery from the e-bike.
CHARGING AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
· The battery is not fully charged at the time of purchase.
Before riding, be sure to fully charge the battery.
· Only use the RS charger to charge the battery.
· Always turn the bicycle and battery off before connecting
or disconnecting the charger from the charge port.
· Be sure the bicyle´s charge port and mains socket are
always clean and dry before connecting the charger.
· Never use the charger if you suspect it is damaged or
known to be broken.
· Do not disassemble or modify the battery charger.
