2) Cleaning the air filter
●
Be sure to clean the air filter periodically. A clogged air filter will not only cause an increase in
output deficiency and fuel consumption but will also lead to an increase in exhaust gas
temperature and the possibility of a fire. see below
Cleaning, replacement time (approx.)
Take care to clean the filter more frequently when operating in an environment with a lot of dust
or grime.
1.
Remove the wing nut and filter cover.
2.
Remove the paper and foam elements
and check for damage.
Replace with new parts if damaged.
3.
Clean each element. Refer to the
instructions below.
4.
Wipe any dirt from the inside of the case
and reassemble to original position.
Paper:
Tap the element several times on a hard surface to remove dirt, or blow compressed
air not exceeding 30 psi [207 kPa] through the filter from the inside.
Never try to brush off dirt; brushing will force dirt into the fibers.
Foam:
Clean in warm soapy water and rinse or clean in non-flammable solvent and allow to dry.
●
Excess oil will restrict air flow through the foam element and may transfer to the paper element,
soaking and clogging it.
Be sure to clean the air filter periodically. A clogged air filter may cause a decrease in efficiency,
and increase fuel consumption. It can also raise exhaust temperature, which may cause fire.
