12.7. ENGINE COWLINGS
Engine compartment is covered by upper (Figure 14) and lower (Figure 12) cowling. They are made of
carbon fiber composite. Upper cowling is fitted with the oil door for easy check of oil level. There is front
light installed in the lower engine cowling (Figure 12– item 3). On the front part of lower cowling, 3 air
intakes for engine cooling are located (Figure 12– items 1 and 2). On the left side of the lower engine cover
(in flight direction) 1 air intake for oil cooler is located (Figure 12 – item 4). To this air intake, an air tunnel
equipped with two toggle latches is glued from the reverse side (Figure 13). In the rear part of the lower
engine cover, on the left side, there is a hole for the exhaust pipe (Figure 12- item 5).
Upper engine cowling is attached to 2 brackets on the engine bulkhead and to the lower engine cowling
by the quick-closing locks (Camlock); lower engine cowling is attached to the fuselage rim by means of
bolts.
