6.5 OPERATOR MAINTENANCE
Engaging the Safety Prop
NEVER WORK UNDER AN ELEVATED PLATFORM UNTIL IT HAS BEEN RESTRAINED
FROM MOVEMENT WITH THE SAFETY PROP, BLOCKING, OR OVERHEAD SLING.
THE SAFETY PROP MUST BE USED WHENEVER MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE
MACHINE REQUIRES THE SCISSOR ARMS BE RAISED. ENSURE THERE IS NO LOAD IN THE
PLATFORM.
Before operator maintenance can be conducted, engage the
machine’s red safety prop. The safety prop is located on the right side
of the machine on the side of the armstack
.
To engage the safety prop:
1.
From the Ground Control Station, raise the platform enough
to allow the safety prop to be engaged.
2.
Rotate the prop assembly clockwise until it hangs vertically
on the side of the scissor arms.
3.
Lower the platform until the safety prop rests against the
safety prop stop on the arm set below it, stopping all down
-
ward movement of the platform/scissor arm assembly.
To disengage the safety prop:
1.
Raise the platform enough to release the safety prop.
2.
Rotate prop assembly counterclockwise until it is rests on
the arm proper holder plate on the side of the scissor arm
assembly.
