If you experience problems with the unit, check if the CI child can hear speech with his speech processor when the FM system is not connected.

If a problem occurs, check the function of the diff erent devices:

Reset the speech processor

(turn OFF/ON)

Replace the batteries

Verify the function of the speech

processor components (check the

manual)

FM receiver/
FM-CI
adaptor

Check all connections to the

speech processor

Check that the mode switch is in

the correct position being either:

 FM+CI

 FM

only

Transmitter

Reset the transmitter

(turn OFF/ON)

Exchange batteries

Check the microphone connec-

tion (exchange microphone if

necessary)

Synchronize the transmitter and

receiver

Perform a listening check

(see below)

Listening
check

A listening check of the speech

processor can be performed using

MED-ELs microphone test device

(MTD). Follow the instructions

given in the user manual of the

MTD.

You can check the Amigo trans-

mitter by plugging a headset into

the auxiliary audio input jack at

the bottom of the transmitter.

Select “Monitor Single Channel”

in the “FM Channel Wizard”, talk

into the microphone and listen in

on the selected channel.

If the signal is distorted and you

suspect electromagnetic inter-

ference, walk around in the room

in order to locate the source of

this interference. Check if either

fi nding a diff erent place in the

room is benefi cial, or whether

choosing a diff erent channel will

solve the problem for the CI user.

In case the close proximity of the

speech processor and the Amigo

receiver causes interference,

the FM-CI adaptor with the Amigo

receiver can be connected to

the speech processor, or to the

remote battery pack via a cable,

and attached to the clothes. This

way the distance between the

Amigo receiver and the speech

processor is increased minimizing

the risk of interference.

The receiver cannot be pro-

grammed while the speech

processor is being worn and

switched on:

In this case, the signal of the

speech processor coil competes

with the programming signal.

Detach the coil from the cable for

the short time it takes to program

the receiver. Be sure to re-attach

it properly and check its function

(see speech processor manual).

If the child is old enough, you can

ask whether he or she can hear

your voice.
