Introduction
1.1 General Information
These instructions for use provide the user as well as his
or her attendants with all the required knowledge on the
design, function, operation and maintenance of the B500
power wheelchair from Otto Bock Mobility Solutions
GmbH. The instructions for use contain all the informa-
tion that is needed to use the power wheelchair safely, to
determine the possible causes of a malfunction and to
help eliminate it.
Knowledge of these instructions for use is absolutely
neces sary for ensuring that the power wheelchair is used
safely. Therefore, the user and his or her attendants must
read the instructions for use thoroughly, especially the
section on “Safety”, before using the power wheelchair.
This will ensure the complete utilisation of all the features
of the power wheelchair.
The instructions for use have been prepared on the basis
of DIN EN 62079 “Preparation of instructions – Structur-
ing, content and presentation”. The instructions for use
are divided into 11 sections. The header of each page
contains the title of the respective section; the footer of
each page contains the description of the power wheel-
chair, the edition of the instructions for use and the page
number.
The instructions for use also contain cross references
that make it easier for you to handle the manual. An
example of this is "See section 4.2".
