IMPORTANT: Overland Storage requires that all NEO
Series parts be removed and replaced by an Overland
Storage authorized service provider. Improper installation may
result in damage which voids existing warranties.
The same type of cooling fan is located above each Card
Cage. Their downward airflow enhances cooling of the
optional expansion cards when installed.
This document describes how to remove and replace a
Card Cage cooling fan in a NEO 2000 or NEO 4000 library
from Overland Storage.
NOTE: The replacement fan is a few thousands of an inch
thicker than the one it replaces in the Lower Card Cage so that
the included flat-head screws MUST BE USED to install it.
WARNING: The GUI touch screen does not completely
shut off NEO SERIES system power. To reduce the risk
of electric shock or damage, unplug both power cords.
Unpacking the Spare
Carefully unpack and verify that you have all the parts:

Cooling Fan
•
Two new flat-head M3x20mm screws
•
Two cable ties
•
These instructions
Electrostatic Discharge Information
A discharge of static electricity can damage micro-circuitry
or static-sensitive devices. To help prevent Electrostatic
Discharge (ESD), observe standard ESD precautions.
Remove the Old Fan
1.
Remove and retain the 11
screws
that secure the cover
to the library.
2.
Lift the
cover
slightly and move it toward the front
about 1/2 inch (12cm).
3.
Lift the inside edge about 45° (
connector
from the fan to the card cage backplane.

4.
Set the cover upside down (
) and carefully cut
the two cable ties holding the fan cable to the cover.

5.
Remove and DISCARD the
two screws
that secure the
fan to the cover. Retain the cover.
Install the New Fan
1.
Position the
new fan
over the mounting posts.
IMPORTANT: Verify that fan airflow (arrow on fan) is
directed away from the cover plate.
