Direction Control Knob
Prior to operation, the direction control knob has to be turned to either feeding or
reverse feeding mode. When the control knob is in the centre, it is in the ‘’off ‘’
position (‘O’). When turned counter-clockwise, the shredder is in the feeding mode
(as indicated by
i
Y
). When turned clockwise, the shredder is in the reverse
feeding mode (as indicated by
h
Y
). The control knob alone will not start the
motor. It only determines the direction of the rolling cutter head.
SYMBOL FUNCTION
EXPLANATION
i
Feeding
Allows material to be shredded
h
Reverse feeding
If a sudden blockage occurs, material will be
ejected by reversing cutter head
1
On
Motor has power to it; cutter head rotates
0
Off
Power to motor is cut; cutter head stops turning
On/Off Safety Buttons
Once the direction control knob has been set to the desired mode, turn on the
shredder by pushing the green ‘I’ button. To turn off, push the red ‘O’ button.
To stop quickly in an emergency simply press the red ‘O’ button.
Internal No Volt Release Switch
The shredder is fitted with an internal no volt release switch. If there is a loss
of power (power cord has accidentally been pulled out etc.) the shredder will
turn off and remain off (for user safety) even when reconnected to the power
supply. To restart the shredder once the power supply has been reconnected,
simply push the green ‘I’ (On) button.
Note:
Do not feed material into the shredder when the motor is not running. It
could cause a blockage in the shredder and cause damage to the machine.
Changing Direction of Cutter
To change the direction of feeding, first turn the shredder off and wait until the
rolling cutter head has completely stopped. Then turn the direction control knob
to the desired setting and turn on the shredder.
Auto Reverse
In the event of a sudden blockage, the shredder can automatically change the
direction of the cutter head. This causes the material to be fed back out of the
shredder. If this occurs, switch off the motor, wait until the rolling cutter head has
stopped and then restart the motor. If the blockage re-occurs immediately be
aware that the material you are shredding may not be suitable for shredding or
needs to be fed at a slower rate.
