Engine servicing and maintenance
WARNING
All forms of repair, adjustment, lubrication and cleaning of the machine may
only be carried out after the machine has been switched off and the spark
plug lead has been disconnected.
Servicing the engine regularly is recommended as this will ensure the engine will
continue to operate in a good and reliable condition.
Before starting
Inspect the engine for signs of oil or fuel leaks.
Remove dirt, especially around the silencer and recoil starter.
Check for signs of damage.
Check that all guards and covers are in place and that all bolts, nuts and screws are
correctly tightened.
Engine oil
Ensure that there is sufficient oil in the engine. The engine can become damaged if it
operates with insufficient oil.
Air filter A dirty air filter will prevent air from reaching the carburettor, which will
reduce engine performance.
Fuel Ensure that there is sufficient petrol for the machine.
Start-up
1.
Open the fuel cock (ON).
