Attaching the PTO shaft
1.
Set the PTO shaft end with the safety guard over the gearbox’s PTO shaft and connect
them by means of the attachment unit.
2.
Attach the other end of the PTO shaft to the tractor’s PTO shaft and secure them in
place with the PTO’s locking unit.
3.
Move the PTO shaft back and forth to make sure it is properly connected to both tractor
and flail mower.
4.
Attach the chain from the PTO shaft’s safety guard to one of the hitch’s top brackets to
make sure the guard does not rotate.
5.
In case the PTO shaft must be shortened:
a)
Hold the two halves next to one another in the shortest possible working position and
mark them off.
b)
Shorten the inner and outer sheath tubes by the same distance.
c)
Shorten the inner and outer slide runners to the same length as the sheath tubes.
d)
Correct overlap is at least half of the length of the tubes and both tubes should be the
same length.
e)
Grind down all sharp edges and remove burrs. Lubricate the slide runners.
EXERCISE CAUTION!
The tractor’s PTO guards and all flail mower guards must be attached at all
times whenever the flail mower is being operated!
Operating instructions
Transport
NB: Always remove the PTO shaft before raising the flail mower to the transport
position.
1.
Always make sure that the PTO shaft does not make contact with the tractor or the flail
mower when raising the flail mower to the transport position. Adjust and set the
tractor’s three-point hitch lifting height, so the shaft does not make contact with the
flail mower in the raised position.
2.
Reduce the tractor’s driving speed when turning and allow plenty of space to keep the
flail mower from coming in contact with obstacles such as buildings, trees or fences.
3.
Always choose a safe driving speed for transport. Always allow faster vehicles to pass
safely.
4.
When driving in rugged or hilly terrain, downshift the tractor to a lower gear.
