Adjusting and replacing V-belts
EXERCISE CAUTION!
The V-belt system is spring-loaded, so exercise caution and avoid injury!
The V-belt must be checked after a few hours of operation and after 20 hours of
operation. Thereafter, check after every 40 hours of operation.
1.
The V-belts’ tension can be adjusted using the adjustment bolt. Turn the bolt until the
desired tension is achieved. Next, adjust the gearbox so that the output shaft operates
straight (in parallel) with the flail mower. Loosen the bolts under the gearbox and
move the gearbox until the output shaft operates straight.
2.
If the V-belt is too tight this can lead to a breakdown of the belt and drive components.
It is important that the V-belt runs straight and smoothly to ensure correct operation.
If a pulley is not operating correctly, it may be necessary to adjust the pulleys on the
side. This is also necessary when replacing a pulley.
1.
Remove the pulley guard to see and work on the
pulleys and V-belts.
