Electrical system – battery
Check the battery fluid level and terminals
CAUTION: Gas inside the battery is explosive. Therefore keep the battery away
from sparks and flames. In addition, the sulphuric acid in the battery is toxic
and can burn through skin, clothes, cause serious eye injuries, etc. Therefore
always take the following precautions:
1.
The battery may only be refilled in a well-ventilated location.
2.
Wear safety goggles and plastic gloves.
3.
Exercise caution and ensure the battery fluid does not spray out from the battery.
In case of contact with acid:
1.
Rinse the skin with copious amounts of water.
2.
Use baking soda or calcium carbonate to neutralise the acid.
3.
Rinse the eyes for 10–15 minutes and seek medical attention.
CAUTION:
a)
Always remove the negative terminal first and always connect this last.
b)
Ensure the battery terminals always face up the way and keep the venting clean
to avoid the battery discharging. Check the battery poles for looseness or rust.
Cover the terminals with Vaseline to avoid corrosion.
Battery replacement
The machine is equipped with a 12 V battery with a negative pole (-) with an earth
connection.
If the battery cannot charge up or does not hold the charge, it must be replaced with
an equivalent battery
