The starter cannot start the engine
Symptoms:
1)
Turn the ignition key to ON. The starter does not function.
2)
The starter drive gear does not engage.
3)
The starter gear does not disengage.
4)
Low engine rpm and uneven engine rpm.
Possible causes:
1)
The battery is not fully charged
2)
Loose battery terminals.
3)
The battery earth connection is loose.
4)
The start circuit is deactivated.
5)
The start relay is stuck.
6)
The starter is faulty.
7)
The starter’s drive gear is stuck in the gear to the engine's flywheel.
8)
The starter’s drive gear is stuck in the bearing.
9)
The starter does not drive the engine.
10)
Engine fault.
Solution proposal:
1)
Check that the battery is fully charged. If not, charge the battery. Replace the battery if
necessary.
2)
Connect the battery terminal and connector.
3)
Repair the battery earth connection.
4)
Examine the starter circuit and ensure that the starter terminal delivers power.
5)
Examine the starter relay for obvious faults; the sound of the relay switch should be
clearly heard.
6)
Check and repair the starter.
7)
Start again to activate the starter’s drive gear and the engine’s flywheel.
8)
Examine the bearing on the end of the starter’s start shaft.
9)
If the starter is worn or does not receive enough power from the battery, replace the
starter engine if necessary.
10)
Repair the engine to ensure that it functions correctly.
