Recoil starter
1)
Turn the choke to the FULL choke position (cold engine start).
NB:
If the engine is
already hot, place the choke in the OFF position.
2)
Press the primer two or three times for a cold engine start, making sure to cover the
vent hole in the centre of the bulb when pressing.
NB:
Do NOT use the primer to
restart a hot engine after a short shutdown.
NB:
Additional priming may be necessary
if the temperature is below -10°C.
3)
Grab the recoil starter handle and slowly pull out the cord. When you feel resistance,
slowly let the cord retract.
4)
Pull the starter handle with a firm, quick pull. Do not release the handle and let it roll
back. Hold on tightly to the starter handle and let it slowly retract.
5)
While the engine is warming up, slowly turn the choke to the OFF position. If the
engine fails, quickly turn the choke back and then slowly to the OFF position again.
NB:
Let the engine warm up for a couple of minutes after starting. The engine will not
operate at full power until it has warmed up.
Stopping the engine
Allow the engine to run for a couple of minutes before stopping to allow moisture on
the engine to evaporate.
Electric starter:
1)
Connect the extension cord to the electric starter output on the engine and then to a
230 volt AC outlet.
2)
While the engine is running, press the start button and let the starter rotate for a few
seconds. The noise in the starter is normal. The engine starter is not damaged.
3)
When unplugging the extension cord, always remove the plug from the wall outlet
before unplugging the cord from the opposite end of the snow thrower.
4)
Move the throttle to the OFF position.
5)
Remove the ignition key and store it in a safe place.
6)
Wipe all snow and moisture from the area around the engine and the area in and
around the drive control levers and auger. Also activate and release both handles
several times.
