Auger
•
The auger is attached to the spiral shaft with
two shear pins and cotter pins. If the auger
should hit a foreign object or ice, the snow
thrower is designed so that the bolts break.
See Figure 19.

If the auger won't turn, check if the bolts are
broken. An extra set of shear pins is supplied
with the snow thrower. When replacing the
pins, spray an oil lubricant into the shaft
before inserting new pins.
Dismantling the friction wheel
If the snow thrower cannot be driven with the drive control lever engaged and
performing a control cable adjustment does not solve the problem, the friction wheel
may need to be replaced. Follow the instructions given below.
1.
Check the friction wheel for signs of wear or cracks and replace if necessary.
o
Set the gear selector to the third forward (F3) position.
o
Empty the petrol from the snow thrower.
o
Gently tilt the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on the auger
housing.
2.
a. Remove the cover from the underside of the snow thrower by removing the two
self-tapping screws that secure it.
b.
Remove the wheels. See Figure 24.
3.
Pull out the drive shaft. See Figure 25.
4.
Pull out the hexagon shaft and remove the gear shaft. See Figure 26.
5.
Remove the three screws holding the friction wheel side plates together, replace only
the rubber ring. See Figure 27.
6.
Slide the friction wheel assembly back onto the hexagon shaft and follow the steps
above in reverse order to reassemble the components.
