NSTALLATION
The Packard Bell Smart TV32 provides many connection options that
should be made carefully for the best results. To make the first
connection as easy as possible, follow the
Installation Guide
(the
large sheet provided in the box) that illustrates the first connections
you should make. Other items may be connected before you start
using the Smart TV32; a set-top box (e.g. a receiver for satellite
signals) may be connected before you perform the first detection of
TV channels. However, this is not necessary and you may add a set-
top box later.
Packard Bell Smart TV32 Installation
Follow the steps described on the
Installation Guide
. This describes
how to attach the stand, connect wireless receivers for peripherals
(such as the keyboard and remote control), connect the TV aerial
and other steps that are necessary before turning on the Smart TV32.
We recommend that two people are present during installa-
tion.
Please check that you have:
• Firmly attached the Smart TV32 stand.
• Connected the receivers (USB ‘key’ devices) for the remote con-
trol and keyboard/mouse.
• Correctly inserted batteries in the remote control, keyboard and
mouse.
• Attached the splitter cable to the TV tuners and the aerial cable.
• Connected the power cord.
• Performed the matching process for the remote control, key-
board and mouse (using the ‘connect’ button on each device, see
below.)
And optionally:
• Connected the WiPen USB device for wireless network access.
• Connected a set-top box for cable or satellite channels.
• Connected an amplifier for surround sound.
Battery Notes:
Dispose of the batteries in a designated disposal area.
Do not throw the batteries into fire.
Do not mix battery types or combine used batteries with new
ones.
Remove dead batteries immediately to prevent battery acid from
leaking into the battery compartment.
If you do not intend to use the device for a long period, remove
the batteries.
Positioning the Packard Bell Smart TV32
Place the Smart TV32 on a solid surface.
• Ensure that the TV is placed in a position to allow free flow of
air. Do not cover the ventilation openings on the back cover.
• To prevent any unsafe situations, no naked flame sources, such
as candles, should be placed on or in the vicinity of the TV.
• Avoid heat, direct sunlight and exposure to rain or water. The
equipment shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing.
Matching the Remote Control, Keyboard and Mouse to
the Packard Bell Smart TV32
When you first start the Smart TV32, it may not recognise the
remote control, keyboard or mouse (i.e. nothing happens when you
press a button). These devices must be ‘matched’ to the Smart TV32
to avoid interference with similar devices.
Two receivers are provided, one for the remote control, and another
for the keyboard and mouse.
1. Press the
connect
button on the keyboard/mouse receiver (check
that the mouse is on).
2. Press the
connect
button on the underside of the keyboard for 3
seconds.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Press the
connect
button on the underside of the mouse for 3 sec-
onds.
5. Press the
connect
button on the remote control receiver.
6. Press the
connect
button on the remote con-
trol.
The devices should now be correctly matched. If
a device does not function, check the batteries
then repeat the matching process.
Connecting a Set-top box
If you have a set-top box (to
decode satellite, cable, ADSL or
other television signals) you
may connect it to the Smart
TV32 and add the channels to
the Smart TV32 channel list.
A set-top box should be
connected to the lower SCART
connector on the Smart TV32
(labelled
AV IN (PC)
). Make
sure the set-top box is plugged
in and on when scanning for
channels.
