Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I know if the battery is charged?
The FULLY CHARGED LED lights up (permanently). Alternatively, you can use a battery acid
tester. If the reading in each cell is 1.250 or more, the battery is fully charged.
I connected the charger properly, but the LOAD LED is not lit.
In some cases, the battery may be so discharged that it has very little or no voltage left. This
can happen if little power has been used over a long period of time, e.g. if a reading light has
been on for a week or more.
The 8-step chargers are designed to charge from a voltage of 4V for 12V chargers and 8V for
24V chargers. If the voltage is below these values, connect two batteries with a jumper cable.
In this way, the battery to be charged is recharged to 4V or 8V. The charger can then start
charging and the jumper cables can be removed.
Can I use the charger as a power supply?
The 8-step charger is designed to only supply power to the battery terminals when they are
correctly connected to the battery. This prevents sparking when connected to the battery or
in the event that the unit is accidentally connected incorrectly. Because of this safety feature,
the charger cannot be used as a power supply. The battery terminals will not carry voltage
unless the terminals are correctly connected to the battery.
How do I know which stage the charger is at?
Compare the LED display on your unit with the explanation in the section "Functions" or
"Charging status display" to find out the current charging level.
