1. Introduction
This document explains how to set up the Pakedge Wireless Virtual Cell LAN with minimal
effort. The system includes a single CTL-W5N Controller and up to 24 WAP-W5N Access
Points. It is preconfigured and
must be used
with the Pakedge RSB-KIT or RSB-K24C (router
and VLAN switch combination package). Before you attempt to use this system, please ensure
that you have the appropriate network configuration, as it will not be supported otherwise
Please read Sections 1 to 4 in their entirety before you start. These sections will give you the
information you need to properly install the WAP-VKIT. After installation as described in
Sections 1 to 4, the VKIT will be fully functional. If you wish to perform further customizations,
proceed to section 5.
The CTL-W5N controller has many configuration options. However, any settings beyond this
manual are not supported. The values you see in the default state represent the optimal
settings for the most compatible high-performance wireless environment. Please only
change settings that are described in this manual. If you have questions, please don’t
hesitate to contact Pakedge Support. Thank you again for purchasing the finest and most
advanced wireless product on the market today.

Open the package carefully and make sure all the items in the list below are present. Do not
discard the packing materials, as returns must be shipped in the original packaging.
One CTL-W5N Virtual Cell Wireless Controller
Wireless AP (WAP-VKIT)
Rackmount hardware for wireless controller and switch
SW8-4PB, SW8-8PB, SW16-16PB, or SW24-24PB PoE switch, depending on the VKIT
model

System Requirements
The minimum system requirements for the WAP-VKIT are:
PC-compatible computer with an Ethernet interface to access the controller’s web
interface
Operating system that supports an HTTP Web browser
A Pakedge RSB-Kxx Preconfigured VLAN Router and Switch Kit

Network Configuration
To help you understand how the WAP-VKIT interfaces with other LAN products to create a
wireless network, we will describe several possible wireless network configurations.
