In any case, it is advisable to empty out the ash pan
every day to facilitate the regular input of combustion air
into the hearth.
Before carrying out this operation make sure that the
fireplace has completely cooled and pay attention to the
possible presence of embers that may be still lit in the
ash drawer.
Attention: embers still warm may hide in the ash even
after several hours.

8.4 CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE HEARTH
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Before performing any maintenance operation, take the
following precautions:
• Make sure that all parts of the chimney are cold.
• Make sure that the ashes are completely
extinguished.
• Use personal protective equipment provided for
by Directive 89/391/EEC.
• Always use appropriate equipment for
maintenance.
Make sure that there are no combustion residues on
the grate, as they may obstruct the free passage of air.
Remove the grate and clean the hearth using a small
brush (not supplied). (Fig. 15)
Route the combustion residues into the ash pan, paying
attention to the burning embers normally present in the
ash.
Remove the ash pan from the base and remove any ash
that has deposited in the compartments below (Fig. 16).
Using an ash vacuum can simplify the final cleaning
operations of the hearth (Fig. 17).
