FlexBowl system components
The FlexBowl filter pressure vessel system is comprised of a
capsule assembly or housing and manifold with locking ring.

Installing and removing the filter cartridge
Refer to the Pall filter cartridge installation and operating guide
for instructions on installing and removing the filter cartridge in
the housing.
Preparing the capsule for installation
on the manifold
1. Remove the closure cap from the pre-wet capsule. (The cap
may be used later to plug the inlet /outlet ports when
removing the capsule.)
2. Drain the ultra-high-purity DI water from the capsule
assembly before installing the capsule on the manifold.
Installing the capsule or housing on
the manifold:
1. Ensure that two (2) O-rings, size 2-212, are installed in the
FlexBowl capsule interface or housing interface.
2. With the FlexBowl manifold assembly mounted firmly, place
the inlet/outlet ports of the capsule or housing interface
over the inlet / outlet ports of the manifold assembly.
3. Raise the manifold locking ring so that the tabs on the
locking ring enter the groove in the capsule or housing
interface.
4. Using a spanner wrench (part no. ACS0655AA), screw
the locking ring onto the capsule or housing interface.
With a ¼ turn, tighten the locking ring until the positive
stop is reached.
Removing the capsule or housing from
the manifold
1. Drain all liquid from the FlexBowl system.
2. Ensure that the system is depressurized.
3. Using the spanner wrench, loosen the locking ring until it
disengages from the capsule or housing interface.
4. For spill-free transport, attach the closure cap to the
capsule or housing. (For the housing, a closure cap is an
option that must be purchased separately.) The closure cap
is not intended to be used under pressure. Do not
pressurize the FlexBowl housing or capsule using the
closure cap seal.
NOTE: To reinstall the housing after filter cartridge
replacement, refer to the section, Installing the capsule or
housing on the manifold. To reinstall a new FlexBowl
capsule, follow the instructions under Preparing the capsule
for installation on the manifold before referring to Installing
the capsule or housing on the manifold.
Determining the system pressure rating
Since the FlexBowl system has numerous pressure vessel
options, there is no standard pressure rating. For a given
system, the pressure rating is based on the maximum
allowable pressure of the component with the lowest rating.
Refer to the following information for the maximum operating
pressure of each FlexBowl system component.
Maximum operating pressure:
(For compatible fluids only)
FlexBowl PFAG2 and PFAG3 disposable assemblies
• 0.49 MPa / 70 psid @ 25°C / 77°F
• 0.28 MPa / 40 psid @ 95°C / 200°F
FlexBowl HDPE disposable assembly
• 0.39 MPa / 57 psid @ 25°C / 77°F
• 0.15 MPa / 21 psid @ 50°C / 122°F
FlexBowl PFAG2 housing
• 0.56 MPa / 80 psid @ 30°C / 86°F
• 0.28 MPa / 40 psid @ 95°C / 200°F
NOTE: Using a component from a manufacturer other than
Pall Corporation with the FlexBowl manifold nullifies all
performance claims (including pressure rating, cleanliness,
filter retention, and flow) for the FlexBowl manifold and any
of the other FlexBowl components.
