6. When you have finished cooking, switch the temperature gauge off. Disconnect the
temperature gauge from the mains power and then from the appliance. Leave the
appliance to cool down before removing the drip tray and cleaning it.
Note: This griddle plate is not designed for use as a hotplate. It has also not been
designed to function when the feet are folded away in the storage position.
CARE AND CLEANING
- Before using for the first time and after each usage, clean the griddle with warm
soapy water, rinse and dry. Do not immerse the temperature gauge in water or
allow it to come into contact with any other liquid.
- For the best results, use utensils made from nylon, plastic, wood or rubber. Do not
use metal utensils since they could scratch the non-stick surface. Do not slice or
chop food on the cooking surface.
- After each use, clean the non-stick surface with a non-metallic cloth. Firm pressure
may be applied if required. Do not use wire brushes or abrasive kitchen cleaners.
- Over time, the non-stick finish may darken in the area over the heating elements.
To remove this decolouring, use a commercial surface cleaner. These cleaners
are available in most supermarkets and hardware shops. Slide the drip tray into
place. Pre-heat the griddle up to 225º. Mix 1 cup of hot water with 1 tablespoon of
commercial cleaner. Using rubber gloves, dip a sponge into the cleaning solution
and rub over the cooking surface. Continue cleaning until all the solution has been
used. Turn the griddle off and leave it to cool. Wash the griddle in hot soapy water
and then dry it.
- Having treated the griddle with a commercial cleaning product, the cooking surface
should be cleaned with a small amount of cooking oil before using it.
- A certain decolouring may occur in the griddle drip tray. This is normal. The amount
of decolouring may vary depending on the food cooked and the temperature used.
It is only visible from inside the drip tray and does not affect the performance of the
griddle.
- For more compact storage, remove the drip tray and fold the feet inwards (Fig. 1).
Note: remove the temperature gauge before folding the feet away. The feet fold
away to facilitate storage, saving valuable space.
IMPORTANT: to ensure the constant accuracy of the temperature gauge, avoid
handling it roughly during use and storage.
