Answering system
Problem
Cause & solution
The unit does not
record new messages.

The answering system is not turned on for the line you
wish to record messages from. Select the desired line
or both lines, then turn the answering system on
(page 36).

The recording time is set to

Greeting Only
”

1 Minute
”
or
“
3 Minutes
”
(page 42).

The answering system is activated for both lines, and
the 1st caller is leaving a voice message. The 2nd
caller cannot leave a message, but the caller
information will be stored (page 34).

If you subscribe to the voice mail service, messages
are recorded by your service provider/telephone
company not your telephone. Change the unit’s
“
Number of Rings
”
setting or consult your service
provider/telephone company (page 42).
I cannot operate the
answering system with
the handset.

The base unit or another handset is being used. Wait
for the other user to finish.

A caller is leaving a message. Wait for the caller to
finish.

The handset is too far from the base unit. Move
