Perform the following:
Plug in the AC adapter, and fully charge your battery.
Use a spare battery if you have one.
If you have neither the AC adapter nor an extra battery, power the computer off.

When the battery indicator remains red (or a 99% reading is displayed) for an
extended period of time, the actual remaining battery level and the displayed
level may differ. Should this occur, charge the battery until the indicator is green,
then completely discharge the battery.

When using the optional CD-ROM pack:
Recharging is temporarily stopped when the drive is being accessed. In this case,
the battery indicator goes off temporarily.
In addition, recharging is temporarily discontinued when the CD-ROM AutoPlay

that are supplied with the CD-ROM pack.
