Copy protection exists to prevent the copying of copyrighted media.
All high definition broadcasts contain copy protection. The recorders
recognize the copy protection “flag” on the broadcast and limit the number of
times that a recorded programme can be copied to disc in high definition.
Broadcasts are only limited in the number of times you can copy the
programme to disc in high definition; there are currently no limits to how
many times you can copy the programme to disc after it has been converted
to standard definition.
