CONTROL OF THE DIGITAL SECTION
The digital processing on EURO 4 is controlled and
monitored
by
the
microprocessor
(SDA5450)
IC1101
. For this purpose it is connected to the signal
processors in the digital section by means of the I
2
C-
bus systems.
An I
2
C- bus interface and a working memory are
integrated in each of the processors with the
contents of the working memories being deleted on
every read out. For this reason, the data required by
the processors must be re-loaded during the switch
on routine. This data is factory stored in a
non-volatile memory I.C. the EAROM
IC1103
.
The adjustment values are already stored in
replacement EAROM
IC1103
components and
therefore
require
only
slight
correction
after
replacement, which may be carried out by means of
a remote control.
After switching on, the adjustment values are read
out from the memory via the I
2
C - bus and input into
the microprocessor
IC1101
from here the data is
read into the working memory of the relevant signal
processors again via the I
2
C -bus. Apart from static
data which the system requires in order to function,
the data for the picture amplitude, geometry, width,
etc, is contained in this information. The customer
specific tuning values such as brightness, colour
saturation, volume. etc, are also included in the
data. The latter may be changed at any time by the
customer and these changed values stored in the
non-volatile memory with the use of the memory
function.
Changes to these values are transmitted to the
relevant processors during the control process via
the I
2
C- bus thereby prompting a re-adjustment to
the desired values. All the data read in after
switching on, together with the data changed by the
customer during operation is checked by the
continuous
communications
between
the
microprocessor and the signal processors during
operation.
Where
changes
occur,
these
are
corrected immediately.
This applies, above all, to the age dependant tuning
values such as the white level, black level and
picture leakage current. For this reason the wear
and aging in the CRT, for example in models with the
EURO chassis, only becomes noticeable where the
control parameter is exhausted and the CRT is
completely worn out. These dynamic tuning values
are awarded special treatment in our chassis. The
stored values in the memory for this function are
automatically updated to the adjusted values during
each memory procedure. This eliminates the need
for an adjustment to the updated worn values after
switching on.
