Technical Number for COM Loop Units
The technical number “NNNNNN” is used when programming any unit connected to the
COM loops.
Technical number is also used to identify which unit has generated a fault.

The address is set with a PC

COM loop number The technical address on the COM loop.
The addresses don't have to be in
sequence.
The connections on the COM loop don't
have to be in sequence.
The address for each unit is set with
the address setting tool 4414/4414E.
Notes
:
* Maximum of 1012 COM loop (technical) addresses can be used in one Control Unit.
Address 000 cannot be used, the total number of addresses is 4 x 253.
* The COM addresses is reduced to 253 per loop due to allocating two addresses in every
loop for auto addressing.
* A brand new detector is factory set to COM loop (technical) address 000. If a detector is
connected on a COM loop without setting up an address (001 – 253), the detector LEDs
will start blinking every second, indicating that the detector has not been addressed.
7.2
Presentation Number
For each fire alarm point / input / zone, a presentation number NNN-NN has to be
programmed.
The presentation number is shown in the FDCIE display and the touch screen display unit
5054 to identify the point / zone activating fire alarm. It is also used to disable / re-enable
fire alarm points / zones via the menu and as a trigger condition in the control expressions
to activate programmable outputs.
Together with the presentation number, a user definable 40 characters text message (alarm
text) can be displayed (if programmed).

Zone number
01 – 99 = The address within the zone.
00 = Only the zone number will be displayed,
e.g. used for conventional zone line inputs.
Note
: Zone 999 can be used as a pseudo zone number to enable the programmer to add
a logical expression to an output in order to turn on this output without activating a general
alarm. Normally used in carpark and jet fan applications.
