Connections and Setup
2.1 Connections
Caution:

When you operate this product, the power
outlet should be near the product and
easily accessible.
2.1.1 Base unit
Note:

To avoid malfunction, do not position the fax
machine near appliances such as TVs or
speakers which generate an intense
magnetic field.
L
If any other device is connected to the same
telephone line, this unit may disturb the
network condition of the device.
Using surge protectors
L
The warranty does not cover damage due to
power line surges or lightning. For additional
protection, we recommend the use of a surge
protector (

).
If you use this unit with a computer or
subscribe to an xDSL service
Fax transmission/reception may be disturbed,
noise interference may be heard during
telephone conversation, or Caller ID (page 43)
may not function properly. A filter to prevent this
is provided from your service company. Please
attach the filter (

) to the telephone line cord of
the fax machine.
2.1.2 Charger unit
Note:

USE ONLY WITH the included Panasonic AC
adaptor.
L
The AC adaptor must remain connected at all
times. (It is normal for the adaptor to feel
warm during use.)

The AC adaptor should be connected to a
vertically oriented or floor-mounted AC
outlet. Do not connect the AC adaptor to a
ceiling-mounted AC outlet, as the weight of
the adaptor may cause it to become
disconnected.
