9.1 Character entry
The dial keys are used to enter characters and numbers. Each dial key has multiple characters assigned to it. The
available character entry modes are Alphabet (ABC), Numeric (0-9), Greek (
), Extended 1 (
), Extended 2
(
) and Cyrillic (
). When in these entry modes except Numeric, you can select which character is entered by
pressing a dial key repeatedly.
– Press
MFN
or
MEN
of the base unit and
MDN
or
MCN
of the cordless handset to move the cursor left or right.
– Press the dial keys to enter characters and numbers.
– Press
M
STOP
N
on the base unit or
on the cordless handset to erase the character or number highlighted by
the cursor. Press and hold
M
STOP
N
/
to erase all characters or numbers.
– Press
MGN
to switch between uppercase and lowercase.
– To enter another character located on the same dial key, press
MEN
of the base unit and
MCN
of the cordless handset
to move the cursor to the next space, then press the appropriate dial key.
– If you do not press any dial key of the cordless handset within 5 seconds after entering a character, the character
is fixed and the cursor moves to the right.

Several character entry modes can be used when entering text. The characters that can be entered depend on the
entry mode.

When the base unit displays the character entry screen:
