15.16 PDF417 code parameters
15.16.1 Set parameters for PDF417
In the “Object settings” tab, you can configure the parameters for PDF417.
• To edit the parameters of the PDF417 code, select the object in the object list or in the
marking image editor.
The parameters are displayed in the category below the object list.
Specify any of the following parameters:
• “Compaction mode”:
Specify the mode according to the character type of the code data.
Select one of these options: “Text”, “Byte”, “Numeric”, “Auto”.
If you select “Auto”, the compaction mode is set automatically according to the character
type of the code data.
• “Module width [mm]”:
Enter a numeric value to specify the width of the narrowest element.
Specify a value larger than the line width under “Line width (calculation value) [mm]” in
the “Object group” settings.
• “Row height to module width ratio”:
Set the ratio of row height to module width.
• “Number of columns”:
Specify a column number. A column refers to a set of data codewords vertically. It does
not include start pattern, stop pattern, right and left row indicators.
The result of multiplying the value of “Number of columns” by the value of “Number of
rows” must not exceed 928.
• “Minimize number of rows”:
Select this check box to set the minimum allowed value depending on the code data and
the settings for “Number of columns”.
• “Number of rows”:
Specify a row number.
If “Minimize number of rows” is selected, the automatically calculated number of rows is
displayed in the text box.
