10-6-4. Detecting cylinder lock
When cylinder Error in starting or lock in modes that cylinder rotates, such as PLAY, CUE/REV or FF/REW is detected, following
actions are performed to protect tape.

When the rotation has not reached the fixed rotation speed within 5 sec. after stop condition,
starting error is detected and the unload starts up to DOWN position keeping VCR mode.

VCR mode.

When starting is detected within 5 sec., cylinder Error is detected and power turns off.

When HSW edge has not been detected for more than 0.5 sec., lock is detected.

Changes to POWER OFF mode.
FF/REW
Functions brake and restart FF/REW. If lock has been detected for 2 times
continuously, changes to STOP mode and mechanism stand by MID position.
Normal rotation
Others
Changes to STOP mode. Mechanism stands by at MID position.
10-7. Automatic features
VTR has several automatic features that always function without any settings. Explanations of each feature are described below.
(1) Auto Power On
If cassette is inserted in POWER OFF condition without cassette in, the power automatically turns on and the cassette is
successfully inserted.
(2) Auto Play
When write-protected tape is inserted, VTR is automatically set to PLAY after loading.
(3) Auto Rewind
If the end edge of the tape is detected during tape running, REW starts automatically, and then stops at the start edge.
(If the end edge is detected during TIMER REC, REW is not performed. Tape stops running and the power immediately turns off.)
(4) Power Off Eject
If the EJECT key is pressed in POWER OFF condition, VCR is automatically set to POWER ON

→
POWER OFF.
(5) Touch-On-Play
When the cassette is held in VCR in POWER OFF condition, if the PLAY key is pressed, the power automatically turns on and
VCR starts to play.
(6) Auto remain calculation
When the customer open timer check screen, if cassette tape with tab, VCR calculates remain time automatically.
When the cassette tape is inserted, if timer check screen is opened, VCR calculates remain time automatically.
