5.1 Surround Configuration
Direct Radiating Surrounds
Position speaker on each side of the listening area as shown in Fig. 4a.

Corner Placement

Alternatively, position speakers in each of the adjacent back corners as shown
in Fig. 4c. They can also be moved out from the back corners (maintaining the same angle position)
and placed as close as 3 ft (1 m) from the main listening area.

Rear
With its large, reverberant soundfield, an ADP
™
speaker is also the best choice for the rear
channel in a 6.1 surround-sound system. Place one ADP
™
in the center behind the listening area
(Fig. 4d), with drivers firing towards the side walls (nameplate “points” toward listening area).

Position behind the listening area—one speaker slightly right and other slightly left, as shown in Fig. 4e.
Keep direct-radiating speakers well back from the listening area for better surround performance.

Drivers should be firing toward the side walls and each other to ensure a large, reverberant soundfield
