Changing an Embedded or Synchronous SDL Configuration
You can change an embedded or a synchronous SDL configuration using the procedure below.
1. Execute the Change SDL Configuration (chsdlc) command.
NOTE
If you need to change a synchronous SDL channel from an SDL
configuration to a standard synchronous data channel configuration,
the Change SDL Configuration (
chsdlc) command must first be
executed to take the synchronous SDL out-of-service. Then you can
configure the channel appropriately through the Change Channel
Configuration (
chcc) command.
2. Enter the node and the link. A time slot summary for the specified node and link is
displayed.
3. Choose a time slot to configure as either embedded SDL or synchronous SDL by selecting
yes in the desired time slot. Only one embedded SDL can be configured per link, but
multiple synchronous SDLs are permitted.
4. For synchronous SDLs, skip to Step 7. To configure a time slot for an embedded SDL,
perform Steps 5 and 6.
5. Make sure that no other embedded SDL is already configured on the link. If one is, and
you need to change the embedded SDL to a different time slot, first you must take the
existing one out-of-service.
CAUTION
Depending on your network connectivity, you can disrupt or
lose diagnostic connectivity to other nodes in your network
when you take an existing embedded SDL out-of-service.
To take the existing embedded SDL out-of-service, select its time slot, then
PRESS: GO
and on the succeeding form, change the state of the SDL to out-of-service. When the
command has been successfully executed, perform the Change SDL Configuration (chsdlc)
command again.
