Backup ISDN BRI DBM
Available as an optional feature, the ISDN BRI DBM provides fast, easy, and
flexible backup to limit data loss when the physical circuit fails. With the DBM
installed, the best and fastest backup decisions are made automatically.
Backup capabilities provided when an ISDN BRI DBM is installed include:

Automatic backup when the circuit fails.
H
Automatic restoration when the circuit recovers.
H
Alternate backup destinations or paths.
H
Manual call control.
What You Need to Do Before Using the
FrameSaver 9620

Subscribe to ISDN service if using an ISDN BRI DBM.

Modify network design to include FrameSaver access units (see Chapter 3,
Typical Applications for examples in the FrameSaver 9620 Technical
Reference).

Define IP addressing scheme, with an IP address assigned to the
FrameSaver access unit, and IP addresses and subnet masks added to
configuration worksheets (see Chapter 2 for IP addressing examples, and
Appendix B for configuration worksheets in the
FrameSaver 9620 Technical
Reference).

Install ISDN BRI DBM, if ordered separately (see the
ISDN BRI Dial Backup
Unit (DBM), Installation Instructions).

Install FrameSaver access unit, ready to be configured (see the
1-Slot
Assembled Access Unit, Installation Instructions).

Determine the configuration shortcuts to be used
before the network cable is
connected (see Chapters 1, 3, and 4 of the
FrameSaver 9620 Technical
Reference for additional information.

Complete configuration worksheets for configuring the FrameSaver
access unit (see Appendix B of the
FrameSaver 9620 Technical Reference).
