Preface
About This Manual
This manual describes installation and operation
requirements particular to the ACCULINK Access
Controller (AAC), COMSPHERE 3000 Series Carrier,
and 3811Plus modem when they are used in combination
to implement the Wireless Data Gateway (WDG). In
addition, this manual describes elements unique to the
WDG, such as the 4-Wire E&M Network Interface
Module (NIM).
Chapter 1 describes the purpose of the WDG and the
hardware it comprises.
Chapter 2 describes the site preparation requirements
of the WDG.
Chapter 3 describes the installation and cabling of the
3000 Series Carrier.
Chapter 4 describes the installation, cabling, and
configuration of the 3811Plus modems.
Chapter 5 describes the installation, cabling, and
configuration of the AAC and its adapter cards.
Chapter 6 describes the operation of the WDG, and
offers solutions to common problems.
Appendix A provides the technical specifications of the
WDG.
Appendix B provides the pin assignments for the DTE
loopback cable, the 8-pin modular to DB-25 cable, and the
E&M card to NIM connectors.
Appendix C lists equipment associated with the WDG.
The Glossary defines some of the abbreviations and
product-specific terms used in this manual.
