Medications
The eFlow
®
rapid
nebuliser handset must
only be used to nebulise permitted inhala-
tion solutions and suspensions from the
following groups of agents:
- Antibiotics
- Cromone (DNCG)
- Anticholinergics and
b
2-sympatho-
mimetics (medications for dilating the
bronchia)
- Corticosteroids (anti-inflammatory
medications)
- Mucolytics (break down or hydrolyse
mucus)
- Saline solutions for inhalation
Depending on the composition of the med-
ication, mixing certain medicines can
cause adverse chemical or physical reac-
tions to the substances.
When a nebuliser handset (including
aerosol head) is used for several medica-
tions one after the other, the residual vol-
ume of the previous medication must be
emptied completely and all nebuliser
handset parts must be washed thoroughly
with warm tap water before refilling.
Caution:
- Babies, children and anyone who
requires assistance must be supervised
constantly by an adult during inhalation
therapy. This is the only way to ensure
safe and effective treatment. These indi-
viduals often underestimate the hazards
associated with the equipment (e.g. risk
of strangulation with the cable), and this
can result in risk of injury.
- The product contains small parts. Small
parts can block the respiratory tract and
pose a choking hazard. Therefore, be
sure to keep them out of the reach of
children at all times.
- The device must not be used while oxy-
gen is being administered in a closed
environment such as an oxygen tent.
- The nebuliser handsets are only suita-
ble for use by patients who can breathe
unassisted and are conscious. This is
the only way to ensure effective treat-
ment and avoid a choking hazard.
Note:
In all cases, follow the instructions for
use of the respective medication.
Caution:
Using other liquids, such as essential oils,
can cause serious health problems. Medi-
cations that are approved for inhalation
with a medication-specific nebuliser hand-
set must not be used with an eFlow
®
rapid
nebuliser handset (risk of incorrect
dosage).
