4.3 Preparation
Disassemble the VORTEX:
• Take the metered dose inhaler out of the connecting ring on the inhalation cham-
ber and close it with the protective cap provided for this purpose.
• If applicable, detach the used mask from the mouthpiece.
• Disconnect the mouthpiece from the inhalation chamber.
• In the case of a change of patients without sterilising the VORTEX beforehand, dis-
pose of the mouthpiece and any mask used.
Info:
The protective cap must be open.
• First rinse all components briefly under running tap water.
This must be done especially thoroughly if cleaning and disinfection are not carried
out straight away.
4.4 Cleaning and disinfection
Generally, a mechanical process (instrument dishwasher) should be used for cleaning
and disinfection.
NOTICE
When selecting the cleaning agent and/or disinfectant, ensure that it is compatible
with the materials used,
otherwise damage to the product components
cannot
be ruled out.
Information when using masks with rubber bands:
The rubber band can only be disinfected chemically, not thermally as it might be
damaged by the high temperatures used.
Mechanical cleaning and disinfection
EQUIPMENT
– Cleaning and disinfection device in conformance with DIN EN ISO 15883
– Cleaning agent
– Neutralising agent if necessary
PROCEDURE
• Arrange the
components
so that they can be cleaned most effectively.
The inhalation chamber must be held upright.
• Select a suitable cleaning programme and agent.
In rare cases, cleaning in the instrument dishwasher can cause discolouration of
the aluminium. This is harmless and does not impair the functioning of the
VORTEX.
