MODEL 7748 SINGLE CHANNEL RS530 DB25 A/B SWITCH W/CUTOFF, TELNET AND GUI
Electro Standards Laboratories, Inc.
(401) 943-1164
www.electrostandards.com - pg 25 - Pub. 4703-02
The web browser connects to the switch and the page loads, but
the GUI does not.
•
If the page loads but the applet does not, a newer version of
Java might be required. If the Java version is up to date, be
sure that the browser’s plugin was updated as well. The latest
version of Java can be found at
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
The GUI loads, but displays an error message stating that the
switch is busy and another user is connected.
•
The unit only supports one Remote Connection at any instant in
time. Please be sure to close any existing Telnet or GUI
sessions to proceed.
The IP address configuration of the unit is invalid and needs to be
reset.
•
The unit’s IP address and security settings can be restored to
factory defaults by following the procedure in the “Resetting the
Remote Ethernet Port” section on page 13.
When attempting to load the GUI, a pop up is shown saying that
this was blocked by current security settings.
•
Due to changes in security policy enforcement as of Java 7
update 51, it may be required to change Java security settings
in order to allow the self-signed GUI to run. Please see Section
“Java Security Policies” on page 17 for more information and
instructions.
Remote Login Issues
The unit will not stay logged in.
•
For security purposes, Remote Sessions are logged out
automatically after a period of 2 minutes without any input from
the user.
•
If this unit is being controlled by an automated system that
needs to stay logged in to monitor the unit for changes or any
other reason, the system will need to send something at least
once every 2 minutes. This can be a query of some sort, or it
can simply be any ‘dummy’ character is not a recognized
command and will yield an “Invalid Command” error that can be
ignored. This heartbeat scheme using “keep alive” dummy
characters is how the GUI operates (notice that the GUI stays
logged in so long as it remains open).
