3 • Configuring the DACS for operation
Model 3092 iDSL DACS Getting Started Guide

Using a Web browser to complete Model 3092 configuration
The DACS window (Digital Cross Connect Configuration) provides three methods for configuring the DACS
which define the connections within the 3092. The connections may be between an iDSL modem and a WAN
port, between two iDSL modems, or between WAN time slots. Without defining the mapping, all the modems
would not be connected to their destination and similarly with the WAN ports. The DACS functions like a 2-
dimensional matrix switch.
Do the following to set the DS0 Mapping of the iDSL Modems:
1. Click on
DS0 Mapping
on the
Configuration Menu
.
2. Set the
DS0 Display Type
(see figure 22) to
displayLongForm(0)
. To create each static connection (which
is the DS0 Mapping Process), you will select from the following parameters:
–
Device Type
. This setting specifies the physical interface onto which you will be connecting. Within the
Model 3092, the user has the option of selecting either a T1/E1 WAN line or an iDSL modem. The two
Device Types choices are
t1-e1(1)
and
iDSL(2)
.
Note
Both sides of the connection can be T1/E1 or both sides can be iDSL.

–
Device Number
. The next step in creating a connection through the DACS is to select the port that you
would like to use. This corresponds to the Port Number for the devices selected previously. For example,
if you would like to make a connection to iDSL port 3 (referring to iDSL modem #3), then select
port3(3)
in the
Device Number
field.
Note
For the selection of a WAN port, since there are only 4 WAN ports,
you can only choose port1(1)–port4(4). If you do not select a port in
that range, an error will be generated by the system. Since there are
24 iDSL modems within the 3092, however, you can choose any of
the 24 ports.
–
Device Slots
. This parameter identifies which DS0 channels—each DS0 channel is 64 kbps—that you
would like to connect. Each iDSL modem has 3 DS0 channels and each time slot in a T1 or E1 WAN
