1 • General information
Smart-DTA rear panel
The Smart-DTA is an ISDN-to-VoIP Digital Telephone Adapter for home or home-office use that supports
two VoIP calls via a single ISDN BRI port (see
figure 2
). The Smart-DTA rear panel ports are described in
table 2
.

Switched Auto-MDX Fast-Ethernet port, RJ-45 (see
figure 2
), connect the unit to an Inter-
net Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) [via an xDSL or cable modem] or a remote IP-PBX
[via a private corporate network].

S/T
interface

) for connecting the S-DTA to an ISDN phone or PBX TE port. Config-
urable as point-to-point or point-to-multipoint.

The Smart-DTA has a 5V DC 1A power input (see
figure 2
).
Reset
The reset button (see
figure 2
) has three functions:
•
Restart the unit with the current startup configuration—Press (for less than 1 second)
and release the
Reset button to restart the unit with the current startup configuration.
•
Restart the unit with factory default configuration—Press the
Reset button for
5 seconds until the
Power LED (see
figure 3
on page 16) starts blinking to restart
the unit with factory default configuration.
•
Restart the unit in bootloader mode (to be used only by trained Smart-DTA techni-
cians)—Starting with the unit powered off, press and hold the
Reset button as you
apply power to the unit. Release the
Reset button when the Power LED starts blink-
ing so the unit will enter bootloader mode.
