1. Introduction
Congratulations! You have just purchased one of the most advanced profesisonal Function generators available.
The innovative ergonomic design and overall high quality will provide years of reliable operation. Therefore, it is
very important to completely familiarize yourself with the unit before attempting use. Please read this manual
carefully, paying particular attention to the Warnings and Cautions section.
1.1 Description
Incorporating concurrent engineering design into the PeakTech series of Sweep/Function Generators ensures a
product of high quality, high reliability and unsurpassed innovation. The microprocessor based system gives a
product with less parts and less failure, which in turn gives a long life time. Plus, innovative features, combined with
expanded specifications/ranges open up new applications.
The PeakTech generators are able to generate several standard wave types. Sine, square, triangle, ramps waves
are generated from 2 Hz to 6 MHz for the PeakTech 1006 and from 2 Hz to 13 MHz for the PeakTech 1013. TTL
pulse outputs are able to reach 12 MHz for the PeakTech 1006 and 24 MHz for the PeakTech 1013 respectively.
Continous, trigger, gate, clock, sweep and external frequency modes are all available to satisfy a larger variety of
applications. Duty Cycle/Symmetry is able to adjust a wave from 10 to 90 %. In addition to providing
linear/logarithmic sweeps, frequencies may be modified externally by input voltages. Both units provide self-test
upon powering up to ensure proper operation.
A frequency counter which operates from 5 Hz to 100 MHz comes standard in the unit. This intelligent frequency
counter is able to read either frequency or period by a reciprocal counting technique. Thus, low frequencies may be
read more accurately.
1.2 Inspection
When you unpack your new function generator from its original packaging carefully check each item for damage
that may have occured during shipment. If anything is damaged or missing take the entire unit, including the box
and packing materials, back to the distributor from where it was purchased. The distributor will either replace the
missing item or the entire unit.

items
- PeakTech 1006 or PeakTech 1013 Sweep/Function Generator
- Power Cord
- Operator's manual
1.4 Cautions
and
warnings
1.
Before applying power to your tester by plugging the power cord into the receptacle on the back of
the tester. Match the applied power voltage, (110 V or 220 V) otherwise damage will result to the
function
generator.
2.
Do not use solvents or aromatic hydrocarbons to clean the module as the finish may be damaged. If
cleaning is necessary, use only a mild solution of soap and warm water. Be careful not to allow water
to enter the unit. Please be sure to always disconnect the power cord before cleaning.
