GETTING STARTED

Please read all the instructions in this owner’s manual. Keep this manual in a
safe place for future reference if necessary. The manual consists of:

1.

Important information

There is a space provided at the beginning of the manual to record

important information about your kayak (page 2). This information will

come in handy if you need to contact our customer service department.

2.

Warranty registration card

As outlined in the warranty section (page 7), you can register your

warranty online at our website (www.pelicansport.com) or by mail

by filling out and returning the registration card. You can find the

registration card in the center of this manual. (page 9).

3.

Manufacturer’s Declaration of Origin

Certain governments require a Manufacturer’s Declaration of Origin

to complete the registration. The declaration is located in the center of this

manual (page 8).

MATERIALS/MANUFACTURING

All Pelican kayaks are made of high-density

polyethylene. If your kayak has a Ram-X™ dome

on it, please read the information below regarding

thermoformed Ram-X™ products.

Your kayak is made of Ram-X™. Its great flexibility offers exceptional shock

resistance. This flexibility increases with heat or with the craft’s prolonged

exposure to the sun but may also slightly warp the hull. The warping disappears

when the hull cools and never affects the craft’s performance.

Ram-X™ is a superior material that was developed and registered in 1978.

It quickly became the benchmark of quality in the industry thanks to its

shock resistance and ability to regain its initial shape following an impact.

Widely hailed by consumers, Ram-X™ is a step above other materials used

in the industry.

TRANSPORTATION

The carrying handles at both ends help in the transportation of the kayak

by hand. These handles should not be used to fasten the kayak onto a

vehicle.

•  Make sure the kayak is firmly tied down, whether on a vehicle

or trailer.

•  Before setting out, make sure all accessories have been removed

and packed into the vehicle to avoid damaging or losing them.

PRE-LAUNCH CHECKLIST

•  Make sure all those aboard are wearing approved lifejackets.

•  Make sure you have basic emergency equipment on board

(warning horn, first aid kit, whistle, etc.).

LAUNCHING PROCEDURE

•  Make sure that all the material used to fasten the kayak during transportation

is removed.

•  Set your foot in the centre of the kayak when boarding to ensure it remains stable.

MOORING/DOCKING

•  Always moor the kayak away from rocks and sharp objects.

•  Always moor in sufficiently deep water to avoid damaging the hull.

•  Never moor the kayak against a dock that is not equipped with

hull-protecting bumpers.

      ATTENTION

Please note that the storage hatches on your kayak are not waterproof.

All water-sensitive items must be properly protected.
