Following is the bit map that defines each bit in the lower byte of the status
register. A high or 1 in the bit position means the active condition while 0 means
otherwise. For example a high or 1 in bit position 3 indicates sensor is currently
being calibrated. The X in the bit position represents don’t care or not defined
condition.

Example:
Let say the value of the status register returned by the sensor is 257
(decimal)
The value 257 means that the high order byte has the value 01
And low order byte has the value 01
The higher order byte 01 determines that it is an H2S sensor
The low order byte when converted to binary bits gives ‘00000001’
Which means that either alarm 1, 2 or both are currently active
