6.3. On-tracking Procedure
Ensure that no passengers or load are in / on the vehicle.
Note the maximum cant and gradient, as defined in the Technical
Specification.
A minimum of two persons required to on or off track. One to operate the
vehicle and one to guide the operator from outside the vehicle.
Ensure that the appropriate track possession has been confirmed.
Assess the area for the most suitable method of on-tracking and position the vehicle
accordingly. The following details the correct procedures for on-tracking:
6.4. On Tracking on Level Crossings / Access Points
•
Drive the vehicle onto the rails at a suitable level crossing (as directed by the
supervisor),
and ‘centre’ all four wheels thus ensuring that all of the Permaquip
Kubota wheels are positioned over the rails and the front wheels are straight.
Apply the handbrake.
•
Put the vehicle into Rail Mode.
•
Align the steering forward and switch the steering lock on. The red LED will
extinguish and the green LED will illuminate.
•
Lower the front and rear rail gear. Refe
r to the section ‘Lowering the Rail
Gear’. The work lights can be used to illuminate the working area if required.
6.5. Lifting Directly onto Track
•
Press and remove the index pins from both sides of the tub. Lift the tub to gain
access to the rear lifting points.
•
Start the vehicle and put the vehicle into Rail Mode.
•
Align the steering forward and switch the steering lock on. The red LED will
extinguish and the green LED will illuminate.
•
Lower the front and rear rail gear.
Refer to the section ‘Lowering the Rail
Gear’.
•
Switch the engine off but leave the ignition in the on position. See Kubota
Owner’s Manual.
