Thermostat Test
Place the thermostat in a pot of water and

position a thermometer to indicate water
temperature. WaRNING! Burn Hazard. Wear
protective equipment.
Heat the water on a burner while observing the

thermometer.
The thermostat should open when the

thermometer indicates a water temperature of
180°f (82°C). If not, replace the thermostat.

Drive Belt Tension adjustment
The Cummins engine is equipped with a spring-
loaded tensioning device and requires no drive belt
adjustment.
Battery Replacement
Note: The Environmental Protection agency has
established guidelines for the disposal of
batteries. Make certain that EPa requirements
are met when disposing of batteries.
WaRNING! Chemical Burn Hazard. Wear eye
protection and rubber gloves.
Unfasten the hold down strap and remove the lid

from battery box.
Remove the nut from each battery post.

Remove the battery ground cable from the
3.
negative (-) battery post, then remove the
positive cable from the positive (+) battery post.
Loosen the two battery clamp nuts and lift the
4.
hold-down clamp from the battery.
Remove the battery box from the forklift.
5.
Position the new battery in the battery box.
6.
Replace the battery box in the machine.
7.
Place the battery hold-down clamp on the
8.
battery with the threaded rods of the clamp
hooked into the slots provided.
Tighten the hold-down clamp nuts.
9.
Position the battery cables on the posts in the
10.
following order: first the red cable to the positive
(+) post and then the black cable to the negative
(-) post.
Install a nut on each battery post.
11.
Replace the battery box lid and securely
12.
refasten hold-down strap.
Dispose of the old battery in a manner approved
13.
by the EPa.
