Electrical isolation:
Digital terminal
Isolation of the I/O circuit of a digital terminal from the communications power is only
ensured if U
MUX
and U
M
/U
S
are provided from separate power supplies.
Electrical isolation:
Analog terminals
The I/O circuit (measuring amplifier) of an analog module receives floating power from the
24 V supply voltage U
ANA
. The power supply unit with electrical isolation is part of an analog
terminal. The voltage U
ANA
is looped through each terminal and is therefore available to the
next terminal.
Figure 4-5
Electrical isolation between field multiplexer and analog module
The potential jumpers hatched in the figure are not used in the analog terminal. This means
that the 24 V supply of the field multiplexer (U
MUX
) and the power terminal are electrically
isolated from the I/O circuit (measuring amplifier) of the analog terminal. The I/O circuit of
the analog module is supplied from the analog circuit U
ANA
.
