1.2.2 Starting & Running the Engine
Before climbing into the operator’s position the daily
maintenance checks must be done as described in section 2.
The
‘SPC10e’
transmission system allows for full control over the
machine’s ground speed and direction without using or needing
to adjust the throttle setting. The engine throttle should only be
set when the machine is stationary. The operating task will
determine the engine speed setting.
There are three throttle positions –
Idle / speed
850 rpm
Manoeuvring/Creep 1200/1275
rpm
Operating & Travel speed
1800 rpm
Throttle speeds are automatically set by a three
position switch. Other speeds are not possible.
Start the engine
To start the engine, the operator MUST -
set the engine speed to IDLE,
ensure the parking brake is ON and
set the Joystick to its CENTRAL/NEUTRAL
position (interlocked condition).
If the park brake is OFF or the Joystick is not in
its neutral position the engine will not start.
Crank the engine by moving the ignition key fully into its
clockwise position.
When the engine ‘fires’ release start key so that it can
return into its ON running position.
If the engine has not fired after ten seconds release the
start key, wait ten seconds and repeat procedure. Repeat
until engine fires. If engine has not started after five
attempts wait 60 seconds before repeating procedure.
