Note:
Even though the signal levels of the phyCARD's I
2
C and SPI interface
are already 3.3 V the interfaces are connected to level shifters on the
phyCARD Carrier Board. This is essential to keep the phyCARD
Carrier Board compatible with all phyCARDs.
Ensure that all module connections are not to exceed their expressed
maximum voltage or current. Maximum signal input values are
indicated in the corresponding controller User's Manual/Data Sheets.
As damage from improper connections varies according to use and
application, it is the user‘s responsibility to take appropriate safety
measures to ensure that the module connections are protected from
overloading through connected peripherals.
17.2.2
Switches
The phyBASE is populated with some switches which are essential for
the operation of the phyCARD-M module on the Carrier Board.
Figure 15
shows the location of the switches and push buttons.

phyBASE push buttons descriptions
S1 Issues
a
system reset
signal. Pressing this button will toggle the
nRESET_IN pin of the phyCARD microcontroller LOW, causing
the controller to reset.
S2 Issues
a
power on/off
event. Pressing this button less than 2
seconds will toggle the nPWR_KEY pin of the phyBASE CPLD
LOW, causing the CPLD to turn on the supply voltages, pressing
this button for more than 2 seconds causing the CPLD to turn off
the supply voltages.
