Disconnecting the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit
Basic information
• As long as the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit (with or without extension modules)
is charged with energy, it may
not
be disconnected from the DC link. The flashing
indicator LED on the top of the housing shows the state.
• To exclude any fault with the indicator LED, it is vital that you have seen it flashing
before it extinguishes. Only then can you be sure that it is safe to work on the
Dynamic Energy Storage Unit.
The commissioning
procedure
Fig. 11: Discharging the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit
⌧
Disconnect the application from the main power supply.
⌧
On the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit, plug in the discharge bridge
between "–
DC"
(black terminal) and "BR"
(grey terminal).
The Dynamic Energy Storage Unit will be discharged.
After the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit has been fully discharged, the indicator
LED will no longer flash.
⌧
After it has been fully discharged, wait at least another 30 seconds.
⌧
Use a voltmeter to make sure that there is no voltage between "–DC"
(black ter
-
minal) and "+DC"
(red terminal).
⌧
Disconnect the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit from the DC link.
The discharge bridge must remain inserted as long as the Dynamic Energy
Storage Unit is detached from the DC link.
⌧
Reconnect the application to the main power supply.
There is a risk of damage.
Discharging using the discharge bridge supplied can destroy
the Dynamic Energy Storage Unit.
⌧
Make sure that the effective resistance in the overall system
> 22 Ohm when discharging using the accompanying dis
-
charge bridge.
